Measuring Guide

Many of the products on our web site are described as being 'standard sizes'. These are set sizes that we use across our range of products to ensure uniformity and compatability within our product range.

That means:
Our mounts will fit our frames.
Our frames will fit our mounts.

The exact sizes of our products can be found on each product's page.
The sizes can be found in the text description and in the pictures.

Caution

Our standard sizes might not be the same as those used by other picture framers. If you intend to use our products in combination with products sourced from other manufacturers then it is your responsibility to check the sizes are compatible.

It is also your responsibility to check that our products will fit your artwork.

Check Compatibility

Using an accurate ruler or tape measure, please measure your artwork and items bought from other picture frame suppliers to ensure they are compatible with our products. You should not trust the information printed on mass-produced labels to be accurate.

  • How to measure a frame

Picture frames are measured from inside edge to inside edge. For a glazed frame this would be the size of the glass. The item to be framed should be the same size as the glass inside the frame.

Take measurements from the back of the frame, preferably remove the glass to measure it.

  • How to measure a mount

Mounts are designed to go inside a picture frame, and they are used to frame pictures on paper.

The outer size of a mount should be the same size as the glass inside the frame.

The aperture size of a mount, generally, should be slightly smaller than the picture to ensure the edges overlap so that the artwork cannot fall through the mount.
